In 1909, after the dissolution of partnership with his brothers in Winnemucca Mercantile, Charles Benton (C.B.) Brown designed and erected his plumbing, hardware, and furniture store on a lot that had been decimated by fire in 1905. Although it has expanded to occupy a neighboring building, as well as one across the back alley, this business is still owned and operated by C.B. Brown's descendants and still offers the same type of goods. C.B. Brown's, as it is known, has been in operation for over 110 years at this location.
